Rusty Point Community Hike

Join us for a beautiful spring hike to Rusty Point on Saturday, May 3rd, starting at 11:00 AM! This scenic route offers peaceful forest trails, mountain views, and a gentle but steady climb that’s great for building confidence on the trail.

Led by community member Bryan Dillenbeck, we’ll start from Prospect Heights Trailhead and head toward Rusty Point—a lesser-known gem in the Chugach foothills.

Trail Details:

• Distance: ~9 miles round trip

• Elevation Gain: ~3,500 ft

• Difficulty: Challenging

• Estimated Duration: 5 hours round trip

What to Bring:Sturdy hiking shoes, layered clothing, water, snacks, and microspikes if trails are icy. Trekking poles recommended if you want extra support.

Parking Info:Parking is available at the Prospect Heights Trailhead. There is a $5 parking fee at the kiosk, or you can use your Alaska State Parks annual pass.

This hike is a great opportunity to connect with others, enjoy nature, and start your weekend feeling grounded and energized. All experience levels are welcome—come as you are!
