About Us: Building Connections, One Adventure at a Time

Adventure doesn’t have to be lonely or intimidating. TrailMates exists to make sure you feel confident and supported every step of the way."
Megan Militello, Founder

This started with a simple idea: bring people together outside to connect, breathe deep, and feel a little less alone. What began as a single monthly hike has grown into something much bigger — a thriving, empowering community where strangers become friends and confidence is built one trail at a time.
TrailMates is entirely community-led. Every event is organized and guided by volunteers who give their time to create safe, welcoming spaces for others to explore Alaska’s trails, share stories, and reconnect with themselves and nature.

Our Mission
At TrailMates, our mission is to make the outdoors more welcoming, connected, and accessible — one trail at a time.
We create space for community-led adventures that bring people together throughout the month, offering a steady rhythm of connection, confidence-building, and shared exploration. Whether it’s your first hike or your hundredth, you’ll find encouragement, camaraderie, and a sense of belonging here.
Because we believe the trail is more than just a path — it’s a place where strangers become friends, where stories are shared, and where everyone deserves to feel safe, seen, and supported.
Snapshots of Connection

We’re not just a hiking group; we’re a community. Explore Alaska, meet amazing people, and feel empowered every step of the way.

Our goal is simple — to make the outdoors more accessible, supportive, and soul-filling for anyone seeking connection.
Thanks for being here. Whether you’re exploring for the first time or looking for your people, you belong. Let’s grow this community together.
