Ready to take on one of the most epic ridge traverses in the Chugach? Join TrailMates for a full-day adventure across the Mount Baldy to Mile High Traverse—a point-to-point trail covering 14.5 miles with nearly 6,000 feet of elevation gain.
This route is rated hard for its distance, elevation, and extended time on trail—perfect for experienced hikers ready to commit to a bold, beautiful day in the mountains. Expect alpine ridgelines, steep climbs, sweeping views, and that empowering feeling of covering serious ground with a strong, supportive crew.

Jaw-dropping panoramic views the entire way

A challenging, rewarding route with big mountain energy
🎒 What to Bring:
Trail runners or hiking boots with solid grip
3+ liters of water
Full lunch and high-calorie snacks
Layers for changing weather (wind/rain/sun)
Sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses
Trekking poles (recommended for steep terrain)
Optional: blister care, extra socks, and headlamp (just in case)
🚗 Logistics: Meet at Mile High trailhead at 9:00 AM. We'll leave some vehicles there and carpool to Baldy, where the hike begins. This is a point-to-point route, so please arrive on time for the car shuttle setup.
🕒 Estimated duration: 10+ hours — plan for a full-day effort and bring everything you need to stay fueled, safe, and comfortable on trail.
