About the event

Join TrailMates for an unforgettable climb on Saturday, June 14th, at 9:00 am! Led by Bryan Dillenbeck, we’ll tackle the famous Manitou Incline in Colorado—a 4-mile loop hike with a staggering 1,978 ft elevation gain.

Trail Details:

  • Distance: 4 miles

  • Elevation Gain: 1,978 ft

  • Estimated Time: 3 hours 15 minutes

  • Difficulty: Extremely challenging

  • Dogs: 🚫 Not allowed

The Manitou Incline is the remains of a historic Cog railway, now transformed into a legendary stairway of over 2,700 steps that rise at an average 45% grade! 😅 With three bail-out points leading to Barr Trail, there are options if the challenge feels overwhelming. Hiking down the Incline is discouraged, so we’ll descend via the scenic Barr Trail.

🌟 The views of Colorado Springs and the surrounding Front Range from the top are absolutely worth the effort. Plan to arrive early to secure parking and allow extra time to get to the base of the Incline.

What to Bring:

  • 💧 Plenty of water

  • 🍫 Snacks or energy bars

  • 🥾 Sturdy hiking shoes

  • 🏃 Trekking poles (recommended)

  • 🧢 Sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses)

  • 🧥 Layers for changing weather

⚠️ Note: The Manitou Incline is not recommended for beginner hikers—come prepared to sweat and push yourself!
