Ready to take on one of Southcentral Alaska’s most rewarding ridge hikes? Join TrailMates for a full-day adventure up Hope Point, a challenging yet stunning trail that winds through lush forest and alpine terrain before rewarding you with panoramic views of Resurrection Creek Valley, Cook Inlet, Turnagain Arm, Fire Island, and more.


Trail Details:

  • 📍 Trailhead: Hope Point Trailhead (Porcupine Campground area), Hope, Alaska

  • 🥾 Distance: 8.5 miles (out & back)

  • ⛰️ Elevation Gain: 3,451 feet

  • ⏱️ Estimated Time: 6 hours

  • 💪 Difficulty: Challenging


This hike is a great opportunity to challenge yourself while soaking in some of the best views the Chugach has to offer. Expect steep inclines, exposed sections, and breathtaking scenery as you gain elevation. The trail can be slick after rain, so please wear grippy hiking shoes, bring trekking poles, and pack plenty of water, snacks, and layers.


🐾 Dogs are welcome and may be off-leash in certain areas—please keep them under control and pack out all waste.


🚗 Parking: Use the Porcupine Campground parking area at the Hope Point Trailhead. Arrive early to secure a spot. No fee required.
