Hanging Valley Lake Community Hike

Join us for a stunning alpine adventure to Hanging Valley Lake! This 10-mile out-and-back trail in Eagle River offers an unforgettable mix of challenge, solitude, and jaw-dropping views. With 2,014 feet of elevation gain, this hike is best suited for experienced hikers ready for a rewarding push into the heart of Chugach State Park.

• 📍 Location: Hanging Valley Trailhead (via South Fork Trail)

• 🥾 Distance: 10.0 miles round-trip

• ⛰️ Elevation Gain: 2,014 ft

• ⏱️ Estimated Duration: ~5 hours

• ⚡ Difficulty: Challenging

• 🐾 Dogs allowed (on leash)

What to Bring:

• Plenty of water & snacks

• Layers for changing weather

• Good hiking boots (trail can be muddy/slick)

• Trekking poles recommended
