Join us for a beautiful winter trek through the Eagle River Nature Center as we make our way to Echo Bend and Ice Falls. This is a welcoming, steady trail with gorgeous views of the valley, snowy spruce, and frozen river features that make winter hiking in Alaska feel truly magical. Everyone is welcome — come as you are, go at your pace, and enjoy being outdoors with a supportive community.

Trail Details:

  • Distance: 7.16 miles

  • Elevation Gain: 856 ft

  • Estimated Time: ~5 hours

  • Trail Type: Out & back

  • Difficulty: Easy

This route offers gentle elevation and plenty of scenic moments — frozen waterfalls, wide-open winter landscapes, and the peaceful quiet of the Eagle River corridor. It’s a longer, slow-and-steady adventure perfect for building confidence and connecting with nature.

What to Bring: Layers to stay warm, poles for stability, and ice spikes (recommended for winter traction).Depending on snow depth, snowshoes may also be helpful. Bring water, snacks, and anything else you personally need to feel comfortable and safe.

Parking Info: Parking is available at the Eagle River Nature Center, but please note there is a $5 parking fee, which is not covered under the State Park Pass.
