Looking for an easy trail to stretch your legs and soak up summer? Join TrailMates for a relaxed walk to Thunderbird Falls—a perfect outing for beginners, families with kiddos, and anyone craving a little nature boost.
🗺️ Trail Details:
Distance: 1.8 miles (out & back)
Elevation Gain: 337 ft
Estimated Time: ~1 hour
Difficulty: Easy
Trailhead: Just off the Glenn Highway near Chugiak
This scenic trail winds through the forest on a well-maintained path with boardwalks, handrails, and scenic viewpoints. It’s stroller-friendly to the balcony overlook and dog-friendly (on leash), making it a go-to for all ages and abilities.
🧭 What to Bring: Comfortable walking shoes, water, bug spray, and layers (just in case!).
🅿️ Parking available at the trailhead; Alaska State Parks Parking fee $5
🐾 Dogs welcome on leash.
