We’re heading to Mile High Ridge in Eagle River for a breathtaking community hike on Thursday, February 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM. With moderate difficulty and stunning views of Cook Inlet and Denali (on a clear day), this 3.4-mile trail is the perfect winter escape!

About the event

Join us for a scenic and invigorating hike up Mile High Ridge in Eagle River on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM! Meet at the trailhead at 10:45 AM to check in and gear up for the adventure, led by our wonderful community member, Tina Metzger Powers.

Hike Details

  • Distance: 3.4 miles

  • Elevation Gain: 1,500+ ft

  • Difficulty: Moderate

  • Type: Out-and-Back

This trail offers breathtaking views of Cook Inlet and, on a clear day, even Denali! As we ascend, we’ll enjoy a mix of switchbacks and ridgeline trails, culminating in a stunning saddle with opportunities to explore further.

Getting There

Take Eagle River Road just past the Mile 3 marker, and turn right onto Mile High Road. Follow the road as it switches back, always taking the turns heading up. Look for the small turnout on the right at Beaver Road. The trail begins just past the gate, to the left of the antenna towers.

What to Bring

  • Microspikes for traction

  • Trekking poles for stability

  • Warm layers to stay cozy

  • Snacks and water to stay fueled
