California creek/Abes trail loop

It's time to get back on the trails & enjoy the Spring break up season! Join TrailMates and our hike leader, Adolph, for a trek up the California Creek Trail! This is a short but mighty hike that rewards your effort with stunning forest scenery and amazing Girdwood views.

This trail is perfect for those who love a steady climb. While the distance is manageable, the "hard" rating comes from the elevation gain over a short distance! Be prepared for ANYTHING on the trails!!

What to Expect

We’ll be winding through beautiful wooded terrain. Because of the steepness and likely mixed conditions of slush, mud, and dirt, the trail can be slick and challenging.

Gear & Essentials

Please consider bringing:

• Traction: Microspikes are highly recommended for the incline.

• Support: Trekking poles will be your best friend on the way up and down.

• Layers: Moisture-wicking layers and ability to take layers off if needed.

• Hydration: Water and a quick snack.
  

Parking & Meeting Info

Meeting Location: We will meet at the Double Musky Inn parking lot. Note: The actual trailhead has very limited parking, so meeting here allows us to coordinate before heading to the start. Please arrive a few minutes early so we can gather the group!
